This studio is a green studio. At least, we’re on our way to becoming very green.
MAD design studio is located in Plaza Midwood in Charlotte, North Carolina. I have worked on projects for others as far away as California, so do not let distance deter you.
MAD design studio is a one-person studio that works as a creative collaborative. Meaning, the client’s needs determine how teams of creative talent are created locally. No matter how big or small the project, I will develop a team including: designers, developers, photographers, writers, marketers, etc. This helps keep the designs new and innovative.
The studio itself practices environmentally friendly techniques such as:
-Minimizing our footprint and help communicate messages that bring about positive change with clients and projects.
-I have an Energy Star printer and computer, LED lights, a large window that lets in lots of natural light (reducing the need for turning on lights), and lots of the furniture and workspace elements have been reclaimed or purchased from socially responsible companies.
-The non-VOC paints and coatings in the studio reduce the amount of pollutants and there are several plants, reducing the amount of pollutants and improving indoor air quality.
-The studio is mostly digital, reducing print outs by sharing files electronically, distributing invoices via email and anything printed is done so on both sides of the paper.
-All of our paper, glass, plastic, aluminum, and ink toner cartridges are recycled and anything biodegradable is composted.
-We use paper that is made from recycled sources, and we have a green address stamp with vegetable-based ink.
-We clean with environmentally friendly cleaners, improving indoor air quality.
-Reducing the environmental impact of our work is a priority, and educating clients about sustainable solutions and alternatives is part of our practice.
-We always consider the full life-cycle of a project and develop inventive approaches by specifying fewer materials, using recycled and non-toxic elements and design for reuse.
-All of our print jobs are done with either 100% post-consumer waste (PCW), chlorine free, recycled, FSC-Certified or hybrid paper, using low VOC and/or vegetable based inks.
-We estimate print quantities as accurately as possible to avoid overproducing and we always print locally or near a client’s location to minimize carbon emissions.
-We’re dedicated to ethical business practices, supporting the community, shopping locally and being responsible stewards of our environment.
-An overall philosophy we’ve adopted is to work with good people who want to make the world a better place.
We do probono work when possible for worthy causes and to support our community.
There is always passion and a purpose behind all of our design work and partner with those who have the same beliefs to create positive change. If you believe in these things, we’d like to work with you, too.
